The California Department of Fee and Tax Administration (CDFTA) administers the state’s sales and use tax. The Board of Equalization (BOE) administers Property Tax, Alcoholic Beverage Tax, or Tax on Insurer's material. The documents in this section identify how these taxes apply to the various sector of the graphic arts industry.
For example, Chapter 11 of the Audit Manual, which is used to train CDFTA auditors, shows the application of sales and use tax to transactions by advertising agencies, graphic artists, printers, and related enterprises. The manual touches upon various types of transactions and gives examples (and sample invoices) on the application of tax to these sectors of the industry.
